In light of recent concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak, travel bans, and mass closures worldwide, the Missouri Chapter leadership has elected to forego a meeting for 2020. We regret this announcement, but see it as the only viable option to preserve the safety of our surgeons and their families.

Regarding the annual paper competition, we recognize the hard work that goes into surgical research, and want to offer an alternative to in-person presentation. Instead, abstract submitters will be invited to submit a visual abstract – much akin to major journals. The visual abstracts will be posted along with the text-based abstracts on the moacs.org website, and will undergo voting by the Missouri ACS membership in early May. Abstracts will be published in a .pdf document that may be referenced as a published, peer-reviewed abstract. Additional details will be sent to the abstract authors later this week.

The annual business meeting will be in the form of an informational announcement, and an online voting process. This will be available at the time of the abstract competition voting. The agenda summary will include brief reports from the President, Treasurer and Governors. Additionally, revised bylaws will be voted upon electronically in early May.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our members and attendees and thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for your continued support of the Missouri Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
